According to French authorities, Travis Scott was taken into custody in Paris following an altercation with his bodyguard.

The 33-year-old rapper was detained at a luxury hotel in Paris during the early hours of Friday, August 9, as confirmed by the Paris prosecutor's office to people.

French authorities report that the rapper is accused of assaulting a security guard who tried to intervene in a dispute between the two individuals at the George V Hotel.

The Paris prosecutor's office stated in a statement to PEOPLE, "On August 9, 2024, shortly after 5 a.m., police were summoned to the Georges V Hotel and detained an

individual known as Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard who had intervened to separate him from

his bodyguard. The investigation has been taken over by the 1st judicial police district.

According to sources familiar with Scott, he is anticipated to be released soon. They also noted that no injuries have been reported and he has not faced any charges.

Public records indicate that on June 20, Scott was apprehended in Miami for disorderly intoxication and trespassing after receiving a warning.
